Be a foster/adoptive parent! Change the Life of a Child--Open your Heart--Open your Home! They have the same Hopes, Dreams, Fears and Needs as any child...You have the power to make a difference in the life of a child! Foster care provides children with a short-term or long-term home and a supportive, stable family environment when they can't live with their birth parents or another relative. Brunswick County is in need of additional foster/adoptive homes so when children have to be removed from their homes, they can still live within the same community, attend their own school and continue supportive relationships. Foster parents care for children in foster care until the children are reunited with their birth families, other relatives, or are legally available for adoption by the foster parent or other parent selected by the Department of Social Services. A foster/adoptive parent is someone who is at least 21 or older, has a safe stable home environment, financially able to care for themselves, agrees to a criminal history record check and is physicallyand mentally capable to care for children and can be single or married. The 30-hour Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) training is required which assist you and the Department in making a mutual decision about whether or not fostering is a good fit for your family. Every child deserves to have some place to call home and to feel loved and wanted. Foster parenting is about believing and investing in the future by helping children and families who are experiencing difficult circumstances. YOU have the power to change a child's world for the better!
