Girls on the Run and STRIDE are preventative outreach programs that use the power of running to help prepare young girls and boys for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. This innovative health education and wellness program combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with lessons that cover topics such as teamwork, respect, and healthy habits. At the end of the season, teams celebrate their achievements and hard work with a 5K race. Two races are held in Brunswick County each year - one in November and one in April. Girls on the Run and STRIDE encourages family and friends to become active as well, as each boy and girl has a running buddy alongside them on race day to help encourage them along the way.
