  • Volunteer Opportunities Available:
Become a coach! Volunteers are needed at Brunswick area schools to be a head or assistant coach. Volunteers give their time for 10 weeks, 1 or 2 days a week, in the after school hours. Girls on the Run and STRIDE provides training and all materials necessary - all volunteers have to bring is their enthusiasm! Perks include having an awesome time, a chance to run with kids, and a super fun 5K race at the end of the season! Volunteers do not have to be "runners" to coach - they just need to be passionate about working with kids. Help out on race day! Volunteers are needed on race day to help make the 5K races fun and safe for all! Go to nckidsrun.org for 5K race dates! Be an advocate! Help is needed in Brunswick County to grow the program. If you are a parent and would like to bring the program to your school - it is often best the principal hear it from you! Additionally, we have a race committee of dedicated volunteers from Brunswick County who help to plan and grow our 5K races!

About:

Girls on the Run and STRIDE are preventative outreach programs that use the power of running to help prepare young girls and boys for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. This innovative health education and wellness program combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with lessons that cover topics such as teamwork, respect, and healthy habits. At the end of the season, teams celebrate their achievements and hard work with a 5K race. Two races are held in Brunswick County each year - one in November and one in April. Girls on the Run and STRIDE encourages family and friends to become active as well, as each boy and girl has a running buddy alongside them on race day to help encourage them along the way.
